Yoga encourages us to find our true nature – it is a method of self study. We achieve this primarily by feeling and noticing our breath. Is it slow? Is it smooth? Can we focus on it, or are we being distracted? If distracted, that’s okay! Artsy & Me can help bring your awareness back to yours breath. Before long, you’ll notice the positive effects this has on your physical and mental body.
Multiple studies have shown that our body holds on to patterns we created from childhood onward. In fact, our body might remember things that our mind has forgotten, good or bad! By linking our breath to movements, we can go through our body and notice what we need, either with or without using our words. Ultimately, this increases our awareness, which helps to re-pattern and align our body.
Through this process, yoga:
- Reduces stress
- Helps to heal emotional as well as physical injuries
- Increases focus
- Provides perspective for the needs of your current state
- So much more!
Which Practice Is Right For Me?
At Artsy & Me, specially-sequenced yoga is our main focus. Therefore, all our yoga practices follow the trauma-informed approach. This individualized form of yoga is especially appropriate if you have been diagnosed with a medical condition, physical and/or psychological in nature. Please note, however, that this is not a replacement for medical attention, and in some cases medical approval will be required before practice.
Our Global Reach
Artsy & Me also aims to promote yoga as a means of global connection. The Artsy & Me team has first-hand experience with being global citizens – the benefits but also challenges this brings. By providing opportunities to practice yoga together online, we hope to alleviate some of the stress you might experience as a result of physical distance – or frequent moving!
